Vitis Energy receives women’s business enterprise certification

SAINT AUGUSTINE, Fla., Sept. 7, 2022 – Clean energy solutions provider Vitis Energy has been certified as a women’s business enterprise by the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council.

In order to receive national certification, a company must be at least 51 percent owned and controlled by one or more women who are actively involved in its management and daily operations. In addition to Chief Executive Officer Stephanie Clarkson, Vitis Energy’s senior leadership team includes Vice President of Development Kristi Miller and Vice President of Legal Maribel Zambrana.

“Certification as a women’s business enterprise affords unique access to both corporate and government contracts as well as a host of other opportunities,” Clarkson said. “As the only woman owned and operated independent power producer, we look forward to advancing our existing 3 gigawatts of clean energy projects as well as adding many more clean energy alternatives in the coming year to our portfolio in the Americas.”

According to the International Energy Agency, women hold less than 12 percent of leadership roles at energy companies, compared with 15.5 percent at non-energy firms. And while 6.4 percent of non-energy firms have a female CEO, just 3.6 percent of all energy companies have a woman at the helm.
